Brilliant at Balmain.

HOLY FUCK SHIT.  I really try to avoid swearing on this blog.  Casually spewing words of toxic waste usually implies a lack of grasp on proper intelligence or depth of vocabulary.  With that said… HOLY FUCK SHIT.

Marking his second season as creative director of Balmain, 20-something-year-old French design hottie prodigy, Olivier Rousteing, looked towards the ‘Fabergé eggs gifted to Elizabeth Taylor’ as inspiration for the label’s Fall 2012 collection.  Strong suiting, precision cutting, opulent beading and elegant embellishments in pearl, gems and crystals abound — Balmain’s vision for the Fall 2012 female was nothing short of magic.  She, the woman, was an androgynous creature.  An 80’s Power Bitch with attitude, style, and good taste to spare.  In short, I want my girlfriends to wear every single article of clothing from this collection.

From the modern velvet quilting and razor sharp tailoring, to the bold colors and elaborate patterns — it harked back to the Versace days of yonder. Not Donatella-for-Versace, but Gianni-for-Versace.   And that, as we all know, is NOT an easy task.
